Searchmarks privacy policy

Searchmarks keeps all of your data in your own browser. It has no servers, collects nothing for its developer, and never sends, sells or shares your data.

Last updated: 24 October 2026.

What Searchmarks reads and stores

Searchmarks records searches only after you choose Start recording my searches on its welcome screen. After that:

It also shows and edits your Chrome bookmarks, and summarizes your recent Chrome history in its History tab. It reads these when you open those tabs and doesn’t keep its own copy.

Where your data is kept

In your browser’s local extension storage, on your device. It is not uploaded anywhere. If you use Chrome Sync, bookmarks you save sync like any other bookmark. Searchmarks’ own data does not sync.

Sharing

Searchmarks does not transmit your data to its developer or to any third party. It contains no analytics, advertising or tracking code, and it loads no remote code.

Your controls

Nothing is recorded in incognito windows.

Permissions and why they are needed

Limited Use

The use of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Searchmarks uses this information only to provide the features described above, and does not sell it, use it for advertising, or use it to determine creditworthiness.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date. Any change to what data is collected will be shown in the extension before it takes effect.
